FINCAS NIVARIUS, THE MAGIC OF THE TERROIR

Our vineyards are located, between the municipalities of Nalda and Albeda de Iregua, on the foothills of Sierra de Cameros, sheltered by the mountains Peña Saida, Peña Lices, Peña de Solo and Peña Aldera. Our vineyards grow in soils facing the north and north-northwest at the foot of the alluvial fans. Zone with a low average annual temperature due to its north orientation and to its height above sea level, which defines our fresh and long-life wines.

FINCA LA NEVERA

4.5 hectares of Maturana blanca at the municipality of Nalda, situated at 800 metres above the sea, north-facing.
Different layout of vines. Silt, clay and sand soil where the roots develop in depth. The lowest part of the plantation has a half-pressed red silt-clay matrix with abundant rocks and a subtle presence of lime.
On the inside, it has an ancient névé, with one of the highest capacities of La Rioja (that’s where the name comes from). From the XIII century, the snow was preserved there throughout the year.

Finca El Arca

8 hectares of Maturana blanca at the municipality of Nalda. Situated at 800 metres above the sea, north-facing. The vineyard was planted with a different layout of rows to define a better orientation.

Finca El Silo

5.5 hectares at the municipality of Nalda. Situated at 800 metres above the sea, north-facing. The row orientation is east-west. The soil is a sandy-silt fertile colluvium with lots of air, 20% of carbonated rocks and clay of good quality.

Finca la Raposa

4 hectares of Malvasía riojana, north-facing. Situated at the municipality of Albeda de Iregua at 700 metres above the sea. The orientation of the vines is north-south.

Finca Valdecabos

12 hectares of Tempranillo blanco, situated at the municipality of Albeda de Iregua at 800 metres above the sea. This is a north-facing plantation and the orientation of the vines is east-west. Rocky soil, probably from a colluvium, characterised by silty and ferric clay with presence of gravel and stones which provides a good drainage and porosity.

Finca La Encinilla

6 hectares of Tempranillo blanco, situated at the municipality of Albeda de Iregua at 800 metres above the sea. This is a north-facing plantation and the orientation of the vines is north-northwest. Alluvial soils with a high silt content.

Finca Las Piedras

The present varieties are: Tempranillo tinto, Garnacha tinta, Graciano, Viura, Garnacha blanca and Maturana blanca. Silty-calcareous alluvial soils with sandy areas.
